The leaves are starting to turn, are you ready for them to fall?

by GoGreen Lawn Services

Summer came and went here in West Chester, PA, and now it’s time to make sure the rakes and leaf blowers still work. Here at Go Green Lawn Services we’ve enjoyed providing our communities with healthy lawns through the summer, and as fall begins to settle onto Pennsylvania we want to let you know about West Chester’s regulations for leaf piles – that way you get the most out of your West Chester lawn care service all season long! We know it’s an arduous task, but don’t just let those piles and piles of leaves and grass clippings sit on your grass throughout the winter!

How to recycle leaves & lawn clippings

If you live in the Borough of West Chester, you are required to recycle your leaves. The Borough requires that all residents and businesses use their six-week leaf collection program. Starting on November 2nd and going through December 11th, the Borough will come to collect your leaf piles. Make sure there are no rocks or sticks in your pile of leaves, but lawn clippings won’t be a problem.

Can I burn a pile of leaves on my property?

No, this is not advised. A fire of burning leaves can easily get out of hand from just a small gust of wind. Not to mention, we would hate to see burnt patches on your lawn!

If I put my leaves by the curb, will someone come and vacuum them up?

Yes! Since collection will begin November 2nd, you can start piling your leaves for curbside collection on Halloween weekend. You should be sure to finish placing all of your leaves out for collection on Sunday the 6th of December, because this will be the final collection week. This leaf collection program is a part of your public utilities, so don’t worry about being charged for this service.

What do I do if I can’t get my leaves raked to the curb by December 11th?

After December 11th, the Borough will no longer collect leaves. To get rid of your leaves any other time than the scheduled collection season you can bring bagged leaves to the Public Works Department at 205 Lacey Street. If you need to give them a call about when you’d be able to drop off your bagged leaves contact 610-696-5282.

What if raking doesn’t sound very enjoyable?

The Borough of West Chester requires you to take part in their seasonal leaf collection for the benefit of your community. All of the leaves that are collected by the Borough are composted, which creates nutrient rich soil and is environmentally friendly. However, if you’d rather sit back and relax this fall as opposed to spending weekends in your yard with a rake, Andrew’s Lawn & Landscaping, our sister company, is happy to do the work for you!

Everyone here at Go Green wishes you and your family a happy, healthy season!
